Yup...sodium is one of the electrolytes...they conduct electrical signals and allow brain signals to make the jump from the synapses (like the way electricity arcs). The synapses don't touch...the signals have to make the leap. Diminished electrolytes means diminished body functions. Much to much is made about drinking water. You only need so much...too much is bad. It may not be obvious but at the lower end of things you will simply experience fatigue and muscle cramps and at the higher end of the spectrum you can pass out...even die. Also increased protein excretion in the urine causes progressive loss of kidney function. This is also why you shouldn't believe that mega does of protein supplement is good for you...it's only benefits the protein sellers and may cause damage to the user.

About 3 liters . A good way to judge if ur getting enough water is by the color of ur piss . If it's dark yellow or smells strong ur dehydrated . It should be like a very light yellow to almost clear and your good .
