Remind me why Karim Mayfield couldn't get a shot at DSG, but Herrera could?

I actually believe Herrera is the harder style for Danny..Mayfield is very predictable,he's also awkward and hard to time..Yet skill for skill,I thought Danny fought the harder fight..Also a fighter I believe Danny needed to see,he's not always going to fight a guy who stands in front of him..I thought Danny beat Herrera,yet it was a close fight..I can't be made if someone seen it for Herrera,I think that's just the wake up call Danny needed..Mayfield is not as slick as Herrera,their both awkward fighters..Yet Herrera imo is much more fundamentally sound..
