If no one is there, how do know it's a tree? If it's a tree, how do you know it fell? Now if the tree did fall and no was around to hear it, of course it made a sound, even if no one heard it.

          what is "it" ?????

          the sound?

          or the tree?

either way it does make a sound, if youre miles upon miles away ofcourse u wont hear the sound of the tree landing but it STILL makes a loud sound upon impact..

          the answer is Yes

If a man shoots himself in the forest and nobody is there to see it does it mean he's been shot?

Yes, of course it makes a sound. Like someone else said, by the whole philosophy logic how does one even know the tree fell if no one is there to observe it, let alone the sound part. How do we even know their is a tree if no one is there to observe it. Philosophy is bull****. Of course the tree made a godamn sound.

Sounds is caused by the vibration of molecules in any medium in any physical state (solid, liquid, gas) as perceived by a brain. Without perception there is no sound. There are still vibrations, but no sound.

So if a tree falls in the forest and by some highly unusual chance there is nothing around that would perceive the vibrations wither through the air or through the ground then no, it would not make a sound, but it would still interact with the physical media regardless of any potential or actual observers.
