  • Dan Rafael: "Why did I get booed? Must have been Mayweather fans"

    "Quotes" By Kieran Mulvaney
    ESPN

Floyd Mayweather Jr. adviser Leonard Ellerbe: "Shane's gonna get what he's been asking for. The same way his boss [Oscar De La Hoya] got it."

Bob Halloran of MGM pointed out to my buddy Dan Rafael in the crowd. "The best boxing writer in America," he said. Some of the crowd booed. "Why did I get booed?" Dan asked me. "Must have been Mayweather fans," he joked.

Am sure a lot of people have called him on it by now, But am sure he needs the beard to hide his fat doublecheese burger cheeks.

Yes. According to Dan, one million people paid to see Juan Manuel Marquez on PPV against Mayweather. That just happens to be more than the combined number of people who have paid to see JMM fight in all 55 of his career fights (whether on PPV or in person).
