  • 1967: the greatest year for album releases?

Okay, some of it might be a little too "psychedelic" for some tastes, but just take a look at what got shat out that year:

    The Doors - The Doors
    The Doors - Strange Days
    Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold As Love
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
    The Kinks - Something Else
The Velvet Underground and Nico - The Velvet Underground and Nico
    Moby Grape - Moby Grape
Sly and the Family Stone - A Whole New Thing
Nina Simone - Nina Simone Sings the Blues

I haven't even included two lesser but still worthwhile albums from The Rolling Stones, plus stuff from Dylan, Aretha, The Who, The Monkees, The Electric Prunes...

Some top quality **** right there.

Simon and Garfunkel- Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme is 67 as well.
The Who- The Who Sell Out
        Cream- Disreali Gears

IDK if I'd put it as best, but its up there.

          Also,

Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk
Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen

I don't know that I think 67 is the very best year for music but it's certainly on the short list.

I feel the same, I don't really 'get' The Doors.

I didn't use to either, but listened to them recently and was surprised how much I dug them. I included them first because I was checking them on Wankopedia and it was in order of release (ie. January) btw.

New England's favourite (favorite, FY) Doors track is Break On Through To the Other Side (If You Can Reach)
