If we are honest with ourselves, and if you look at what all objective people are saying, Mayweather was dominating Victor Ortiz.

People are rewriting history because the fight ended at the exact moment that May was on the ropes. But Floyd has been in that spot in EVERY fight. IT WASN'T THAT FLOYD WAS HURT. Or having problems defending. Floyd is at home on the ropes. Think of it like a jiu Jitsu master being on his back. It's a defensive position, but also an offensive one for Floyd.

Guys get TOO excited when they get Floyd on the ropes. They don't realize that is where he WANTS to be. Examples? Sure:

    1) Corley landed a big shot on Floyd. Floyd immediately put his back on the ropes.
    2) Zab landed a big shot on Floyd. Floyd immediately put his back on the ropes.
    3) Mosley landed a big shot on Floyd. Floyd immediately put his back on the ropes.

What was the common thread in all three scenarios? Floyd came off the ropes to win the rest of the round. In every case.
    • Victor was down 3-0, 3-0, and 2-1 on the cards.
    • Mayweather had landed 3x the punches that Victor landed. (per Compubox)
    • Ortiz' eye was already closing in round 4
    • Floyd couldn't miss with the right hand.
    • Floyd opened up round 4 by hurting Ortiz (please go watch the first 40 seconds)

Those are the facts... but people are rewriting history. Ortiz had 2-3 more rounds in him, and he was getting KO'd. And Victor knew it.

he is good on the inside

but against a stronger body puncher who is GREAT on the inside.....

One should put constant pressure on Mayweather and not let him set the pace. Make him fight constantly the way Castillo did. That's why I gave Ortiz a better chance vs May than I do Pac. Ortiz is bigger and stronger than Pac and is able to absorb punishment to get inside. Pac is too small to do that vs May. Pac beat Margo and May beats Pac but Margo beats May.

Pac should be counterpunched. He hits too hard to fight on the inside. Take advantage of his very short arms and legs and fight from the outside.

good point actually but very few fighters are able to get in position to land hard punches on the inside...very difficult to do. I agree with your pressure fighter theory although he would have to be highly skilled to be able to negate the different counters floyd will be landing over 12 rounds.

yes it would have to be a pressure fighter with great headmovment and a good sense of anticipation as well as timinng
(cough cough... duran.... cough cough would kick his a$$... cough cough)
but those seem to be a lost breed at the moment....

              on a differnet note

floy should fight more like a classic boxer

he has the body and the arms he doesnt jab and hook of of the jab enough and throw combos

if he added that to go with his conterpunching style and his way that he coomes forward fighting southpaws

              he would have more dementions.

seems like the game plan to beat pac is simple use footwork and straing punches and throw combos

emphasis on the combos... marquez and morales both contered but not with pot shots they stood there ground and backed pac of with teh combos

it takes allot to hold a guy like that off

plan is simple but u have to have a damn good chin good defense foot work a jab and righthand lead and massive balls

plus the stamina to keep it up for the whole twelve

its gotta be hard to hand in there with teh pacman for 12
