I saw in an interview with Martinez that he thinks Pirog is good but unproven. I don't think Martinez can be faulted for not wanting to fight him at this stage, nobody knows who Pirog is.

To all the people saying Martinez "ducked him": What the hell does beating a 21 year old prospect do to make you deserve a fight against one of the best fighters in the world right now, when there are guys like Miguel Cotto, JCC Jr, Margo, Lara (if he gets by Williams), and Floyd out there?

If Pirog builds up his resume with guys like Ishe Smith, Ishida, Zbik, Gevor, Sylvester, etc, maybe he'll deserve a shot. But until then, he hasn't proven he's any greater than Breidis Prescott.
