Oh and Boyhood has it on lock. Can't even fathom how overrated Birdman is. It's good but Idk. I liked Keaton in it, he'll probably win Best Actor. No problem with that but best film.......Idk man

Ralph Fiennes was snubbed for Best Actor. I don't think Bradley Cooper deserved Oscar nom for American Sniper in such a competitive year.

Oh and The Imitation Game......way overrated. Another "Safe" film the academy nominates a **** ton.

Best Films in 2014 for me.......

    Gone Girl (snubbed big time)
    Nightcrawler
    Interstellar
    The Grand Budapest Hotel
    Boyhood
    Birdman (overrated but still good)

I've not seen Whiplash, A Most Violent Year, Selma, or Foxcatcher but they're supposed to be good.

Saw American Sniper.....good but not great

Next up....Foxcatcher, A Most Violent Year, Selma.

Still upset none of the academy or anything really liked Interstellar for more than technical categories. I thought it was really good aside from 1 thing....Anne Hatheway.
Still need to see Foxcatcher. Hoping to go next week.

I'm glad Steve Carrel has an Oscar Nomination, I'm a big fan of his.

I don't think this has been a strong year.

Or atleast I don't like many of the films.

Even the ones I haven't seen, like Whiplash and Birdman etc don't look like I would enjoy them.

Whereas last year I liked most of the films.

For lead Actor though....it was a strong year

          Birdman
          Nightcrawler
          Theory of Everything
          Imitation Game
          Selma
          American Sniper
          Grand Budapest Hotel
          Foxcatcher
          Inherent Vice

All those lead performances could have had a decent shot a nomination in the lead actor category. I haven't seen Foxcatcher but apparently Steve Carrel is great in it. So my five would have been this.....

          Keaton for Birdman
          Jake G for Nightcrawler
          Fiennes in Grand Budapest
          Carrell for Foxcatcher
          Redmayne in Theory of Everything

The biggest snubs this year were Gone Girl for Best Picture, Director, and screenplay....pretty much anything really. Nightcrawler as well, at the very least deserved a Best Actor nom. Fiennes for Best Actor too.

I guess many of those just aren't my cup of tea.

Nightcrawler was quite good and Gyllenhaal was good.

I've not seen many of the others, very few of those interest me.
