No, he wasn't busting Hagler up or anything, but he was making his count.

I guess this is just one of those fights that people see very different ways.

Another one is Hagler-Duran. I don't see how anyone thought that fight was even remotely close. I don't have my card on me right now, but I don't remember giving Duran more than 2 or 3 rounds all fight, yet some people are convinced Duran won.
That's probably your own delusions. People say Duran did well, not that he won. I've never heard anyone say he won, even the most ardent Duran fans. He didn't win, obviously, but he did bloody well considering the fact he was meant to actually die in that fight.

Leonard won the Hagler fight too. No controversy there. Never been able to see a Hagler win, no matter how hard I try.

this and agreeing to the wider ring were 2 huge mistakes Marvin made.

Hagler is my favorite boxer ever and I loathe SRL. The late flurries that Leonard used to win rounds is pure BS. I scored it like surgeon did but I am not mad if anyone scored it 115-113 or so for SRL.

But the other scorcard makes me so ****in mad!

I had it for Hagler by a single point the last time I scored it. I think it's one of those fights where you're always going to be torn between the steady work of one guy vs the flashier work of the other. In such a fight I think you generally end up focusing on the effectiveness of the flashy work. If a guy's not doing as much he better be landing something significant when he does work.

It's one of those fights where you'd really have to discuss it round by round to get anywhere I reckon.

I've never scored it closer than 116-112 Leonard. To me, Leonard easily won 5 of the first 6. I also gave him 3 or 4 of the last 6. This is not meant to piss off Hagler fans, but I'm curious as to how anyone could see that fight in Hagler's favor.

I could see rounds 5, 9 and 10 going to Marvelous, and even some of them are close rounds. Beyond that, I'm sorry, but what did Hagler do to impress anyone? Even in the rounds where Ray "ran," he was more effective than Hagler.

Do me a favor. Vote in the poll and give your scorecard if you have it on hand. We're boxing fans, so we should have every "controversial" card scored and saved somewhere. It's hard to argue if you don't really.

Again, not trolling, disrespecting or anything of the sort. Just curious.
I saw it exactly like you. I remember Hagler didn't win a single round of the first 6 rounds. And of the last 6 I gave Hagler half of the rounds, which is 3.
so I scored it for Leonard also.
I understand Leonard is a mover and does a little bit of flashy shoe shining stuff sometimes, but I have a hard time scoring this fight for Hagler.

Hagler landed the more meaningful punches and arguably swept the second half of the fight. Every time I watch it I get mad, I can't see how Leonard got the decision.

I thought he edged round 5, but he absolutely lost 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6, no question about it.

THe only people that i heard say Duran beat Hagler were Thomas Hearns and Al Bernstein.

My score for Leonard-Hagler was Leonard winning by 1 point 115-114 (6-5-1).

                    Going by my memory
                    Rd 1-SRL 10-9
                    Rd 2 SRL 10-9
                    Rd 3 Even 10-10
                    Rd 4 SRL 10-9
                    Rd 5- Hagler 10-9
                    Rd 6-SRL 10-9
                    Rd 7 Hagler 10-9
                    Rd 8 Hagler 10-9
Rd 9 SRL 10-9(could have gone either way,but since SRL fought his way out of the ropes he won the drama of that round. Close round.
                    Rd 10-Hagler 10-9
                    Rd 11-SRL 10-9
Rd 12 Hagler 10-9(SRL with the exception of a flurry on the ropes pretty much ran and Hagler was the aggressor.
                    115-114- SRL

My opinion was that Leonard hit below the belt and pushed off too many times, should have been a point deduction which would have made it 114-114 on my card, a draw.

Remember, Steele actually took a point away from CHavez in a close fight with Juan Laporte a few months before. BTW, i saw that fight recently and had it 115-114 for Laporte. Chavez had trouble making weight and appeared drained. He was fined $500 for failing to make weight the first time on the scale.
