What happens to a president/PM after their reign?

I assume they remain political active, is there anyway a former-PM could become a minister for something? Do they earn a wage every year for the rest of their lives?

Yeah a PM can become a minister afterwards (though it isn't common to do so) and remains an MP until they resign their seat. Ted Heath carried on for something like 30 years after being PM.

Not sure if they receive a wage but they probably do. A lot of them write an autobiography, do speaking tours and stuff like that. Not really sure what Clinton and Bush are doing with themselves these days though.
