Fernando Vargas was 21 when he became champ. Wilfred Benitez was 17 I think. And Pipino Cuevas was 18 when he became welterweight champ. All 3 faced tougher opponents than Broner imo.

EXACTLY! And Cuevas, unlike Broner, was a huge underdog and was seen as an easy defense for the veteran champ, and Benitez was considered too young when he fought Cervantes as well and they fought two guys that were WAAAYYY better than Broner's first two titles and the first title should be thrown in the trash because that guy he fought was a fuking joke. Broner has had it soft but most of the world thought he would KO Maidana. Too much too soon is not the case. It comes down to how good Broner really is and how physically and mentally prepared he is and that's on him. Too much too soon does fit how many Ho's he has had and how much he wanted to live like a top sports superstar. No foundation for a humbling though, nowhere to land when the bulb got popped. Lifestyle not properly derived from where he really was....it was a hollow pretense of stardom. It was not about putting the carriage before the horse....the carriage was way too big. Earth to Broner, come in?

There is a difference between "the boxing community" thinking he is the future of Boxing and Broner's own assessment of "taking over boxing". That is a HUGE gamut of difference. No way in hell he is taking over boxing. Reality is always somewhere in the middle or less and being a champion and a top fighter is closer than "the future of Boxing" or "taking over Boxing". Understand something about psychology. People are wined, dined, and seduced by brash arrogance and massive claims and unbeaten records. He talks a great talk, makes some noise, but all that glitters is not gold, not that much gold. He can be a champion but not a superstar, too many flaws. Sure as hell is not a Floyd level nor will he ever be a Floyd level Millions and his Billions talk, no one ever believed that or 95% of what he said. So what the community "thought he was" "or is" is nowhere near the hype, not remotely. Reality is he can be a good champ some day, at best. The competition is stiff and I would pick several guys to beat him....that is not the future of Boxing. The "future of Boxing" is a guy like prime Jones and Floyd where it seems no one at or near their class can beat them in their prime. Prime Mosley at Lightweight. Guys like that. Prime Trinidad had only one guy that people thought could beat him, he was sensational. Not only do most think several guys could beat Broner, most think at least two or more already have. Hype bites back when reality is the wake up call. Anyone with a checkbook can write a check for 100 grand. How many people can actually get cash for that check from just anyone writing it? His ass couldn't cash the one his mouth wrote.

I agree with Roy! You don't get a split decision with Paulie and think that you're strong enough for Welterweights. Look what happened to Maidana against Alexander. In fact, Broner would've been better off fighting Amir Khan or Danny Garcia @ 147, than to face Maidana. Same goes for Rios. He just lost to Alvarado @ 140, then goes to fight Manny in his first fight @ 147. Not a smart move.

Danny Garcia would beat Adrien Broner up too.

It's too late now. He is a 3 division champ. He wants the rematch. He has to do the rematch. If he didn't, he would lose respect, and probably lose his own self respect. This is what he signed up for. Boxing is a almost like the guessing game. You can give great insight on styles and who you think wins, but you're always a punch away from being wrong.

Roy is 100% right. Yes, broner talks a lot of **** and shouldn't be treated like a contender any more, but the truth of the matter remains that he's only 23yrs old. Other than Tyson, prolly no one in the history of boxing has faced the competition and accomplished as much as broner has at such a young age. Still the youngest 3 division champ in history. Chino was just too much too soon but I think the rematch will be different and broner will dominate

A former three division champion shouldn't be treated like a contender. Broner called himself the best ever, and since couldn't deliver now it was just "too soon" for him to have faced Maidana?

Maidana is not even slick, technical, or fast. Imagine what a guy like Porter, Bradley or Cotto would do to Broner? Too soon...

He fought at welter too soon! He took the easiest belt he could get to chase history and he barely got that win. He has no business fighting at 147 at this time and Maidana made it clear. Unless he works on not getting hit, the rematch will be no different.
