  • Is Ward scared of Kovalev? NSB hypocrisy? (videos)

Clearly Ward and his team are not confident of moving up to 175 and facing Kovalev. Lets take a look at the facts:

Ward has no good opponents at 168- he came in at 172 in his last fight.

He continues to call out a 160lber who has a lineal title in his division to go after

He hasn't fought a good opponent in years

Kovalev has 3 titles and has been calling Ward out for some time now

    Ward and his teams responses:

    http://www.boxingscene.com/andre-war...en-what--78770
(Hmmm so Ward would be willing to move up for a PPV fight but NOT fight Kovalev because it's not PPV, but Golovkin gets crucified because he would move up for Chavez Jr and Froch but not the irrelevant BET fighter Ward?)

    "Would you fight Kovalev?"

" I fought two of the best punchers in the world. Edison Miranda. Arthur Abraham. He got bricks in his glove. (keep in mind he also said Kovalev is just a media darling, yet now he has 3 titles and is clearly past the "media hype" stage. What gives, Andre? Gets asked about Kovalev, starts talking about Alan Green.

He fought two power punchers 5 years ago so he shouldn't have to fight one more in Kovalev doe

Now here's the key thing: Golovkin has unfinished business at 160. He can unify with Lemieux but the big one is he's waiting on a fight with the lineal champion Cotto/Canelo... A fight with Canelo has NO barriers. That's an HBO PPV fight. So why would move up to 168 fight the best SMW (a P4P fighter) in the world, then go back down and potentially lose out on that superfight? In fact he even said he WOULD take the fight and say f**k it- at 164. That's a fair enough trade off for the risk he would take in giving up his 160lb championship fight options.

NOW, lets look at Wards situation. 168 is a complete crock of ****, he has absolutely NO ELITE fighters to fight there. He just fought Edwin Rodriguez and Paul Smith. So what is he waiting for? He's just waiting around at 168 and content with fighting journeyman the rest of his career? Golovkin offered him a big fight at 164- he says nope, "I'm a SMW" (Keep in mind he said he would move down to 160 for Floyd Mayweather). So what's the next logical step? Move up to 175 and fight another P4P fighter/3 titlist champion......... Oh wait- Ward never fought at that weight, who knows how his body will react, etc. the SAME exact things are going on yet everybody on here is hanging on GGG for some reason.

Literally the same exact situations but NO ONE is calling out Ward who is calling out GGG- in fact this actually looks worse on Ward, due to the actual situations and each fighters circumstance that I mentioned above.

So what's with the Hypocrisy? It must come to the fact that people can't handle the fame and star treatment GGG is getting so they desperately want him to lose, with tunnel vision and fire in their eyes ignoring everything else that's going on, or the Ward situation by just locking into GGG and talking about nothing else.

But what do you have to say about Ward and the hypocrisy of being in the same exact (and worse) situation?

This isn't about protecting GGG, it's about exposing Ward and the double standards going on.

Ward is not in the same situation. He is younger than Golovkin and already has a much better career. He hasn't asked to fight Kovalev at any silly catchweights. He wants to beat Golovkin at 168 before moving to 175 and fighting Kovalev.

Boxing fans want to see both fights. Scared GGG fans don't.

And Golovkin wants to fight the Canelo/Cotto winner before moving up to fight Ward at 168. Ward has made it clear he does not want to fight Kovalev.

You're right the situations aren't the same in the sense that- Golovkin has a lineal title to go after before moving up, meanwhile Ward has nothing and is chasing a 160lber instead of moving up.

More people want to see Golovkin/Ward than Ward/Kovalev and most want to see both. The logical order is Golovkin before Kovalev for Ward.

Ward will fight Kovalev at 175 with no catchweight demand within the next year or so.
