I used to wrestle(sucked) and was a black belt in Kung Fu(does that really mean anything?), so I can respect what the guys do in MMA but I love boxing WAY more. While I watch a lot more boxing, I think my insight to MMA is probably more useful than my boxing insight. But the thing is is that like boxing it's driven by the big stars and they don't have that now. I think it'll boom again but it's declining now.
Also the biggest asset that MMA has is also it's biggest negative. They have the best fighting the best. Jon Jones ran through Shogun, Machida, Evans, Jackson, and now Belfort in what less than two years? That'd be like if Mayweather beat Oscar, Margarito, Mosley, Cotto, and Pacquiao in 2 years. Yeah it's impressive but what's next? I love that the UFC always gives it's fans the big fights but eventually you run out of big fights. UFC focuses on the now while boxing is wondering about the next fight. Both sports will have their down time and booms, and I KNOW neither are going anywhere. I'm sure no one's read this to the end because I actually articulated ideas instead of having one line of hate, so if you have, here's a link to a sexy Mexican getting slammed http://video.xnxx.com/video1043866/o...y_lavelle_flyy |

You expressed some good points but what Jones is doing is unprecedented in the LHW division, as he is easily tearing through the best the weight class has to offer. Saying that he was close to submitting in his last fight and a loss can essentially galvanise the division/UFC again. |

I don't see any genuine stars in that organization emerging.Georges St Pierre and Jon Jones are the current examples, but even their fights are a formality at this point - and neither are exactly TV friendly fighters.Anderson Silva is steering towards that direction, too. The only truly interesting fights left for him would be against the two previous mentioned, but they're obviously not going to happen.
Couture,Ortiz,Liddell and Lesnar are gone,Rampage Jackson is on the way out and Wanderlei Silva is little more than a novelty act at this point. |
