  • Comments Thread For: Darley Perez Continues Unbeaten Run at Morongo

By Luis Sandoval - It was a battle of undefeated fighters as highly touted Colombian Darley Perez edged out a split decision against the crafty Bahodir Mamadjonov. The fight was showcased as the ESPN Friday Night Fights main event from the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, CA. Mamadjonov was a replacement for Perez’s original opponent, Michael Katsidis, who pulled out of the fight after he suffered a knee injury last month. If Perez was expecting an easier assignment by taking on the Uzbekistan southpaw, he soon found out that was not the case. The fight started out with a cautious round as both fighters kept a very slow pace. Perez stalked his shorter foe while Mamadjonov was content with using his movement and throwing straight lefts to the body.

Even with the knockdown Perez lost the fight. Baha out boxed him the whole fight. I honestly thought that Perez only won 3 rounds, maybe 4. It was close but Perez was lucky to get the w.

Agreed. I had Baja the winner, 6 rounds to 4. Credit to Perez for the knockdown from that well-placed uppercut, but it was still just a flash knockdown. Not enough to give him the W.

Bad night for Perez. I gave him 5 rounds. easily a draw minus the kd. Baha boxed very good. No shame in his performance. I suspect Darley expected him to slug more. Baha did slow down the 2nd half of the fight & let Darley back in.
