What you are talking about is revenge.
What's just about you being killed, and the person who killed you not?

That is justice. How is disfiguring someone's face, because he disfigured the face of someone else justice? It's revenge, it happens because it makes people feel better because they received something that they did but it's not justice.
It's a way of being as savage as the criminal is. We as a society need to separate ourselves from what criminals do, if not we are the same as them. Again, doing this type of stuff has NEVER shown to be a deterrent, ever.
Murder is the worst thing you can do to someone because you take the most important thing they have that can never be replaced, their life.

Justice;
the process or result of using laws to fairly judge and punish crimes and criminals.
My argument for it being a fair punishment is a lot stronger than your argument of it being an unfair punishment...

Easy to sit here and be pragmatic and dispassionate about it.
What if some asshole did this to your daughter?
Think you would be in the same mind frame?
Doubt it.

Thats torture. The death penalty would have been better. I know what he did was abhorent but just kill the man. Spend the money that would went to him through medical expenses lrison room and board etc. His punishment feels good but isnt good.
