al and pbc is the worst thing to happen to showtime, HBO is not doing that much better if they keep having this mismatch fights and putting all the decent fights on ppv they're not going to last much longer

Pathetic for Showtime! They should be ashamed and Espinoza should be fired immediately!!! If the J-Rock fight this weekend does under 300K Espinoza has got to go
HBO and SHO are going head to head again this weekend. If Santa Cruz-Martinez didn't break 300K, then J-Rock-Matano definitely won't.

It's sad that SHO's last 4 cards (headlined by DeGale-Bute, Jacobs-Quillin, Wilder-Szpilka, and Santa Cruz-Martinez) haven't had one fight break 500K. Their best rating over that stretch was exactly 500K for Wilder-Szpilka.

Jacobs Vs Quillin did only 300k viewers a massive belly flop and did not go head to head with HBO. And there are tons of examples of Showtime bombing in the ratings despite not going head to head with HBO. There is way more going on in the ratings drop for Showtime Boxing in the last 12 months. Ever since Haymon took over control of Showtime their ratings have nose dived. That has more to with the perception of haymon which is very negative right now and how close Showtime is standing next to him right now. And you can't discount losing Golden Boy which gave those fights a stamp of approval and legitimacy to a lot of fans. For about 2 years Showtime was neck and neck with HBO in the ratings because of a power move to grab Floyd and Golden Boy Promotions. But doing so they gave tremendous power to Haymon and watched him cause a feud to split Golden Boy then watched him take all Showtime fighters to other networks last year. And Floyd is now retired. Showtime needs to distance themselves with Haymon to rebuild their credibility. Reach out to other top promoters and get out of the Haymon showcase business before it's too late. Haymon has already blown hundreds of millions from his PBC investors. Now he's trying to destroy Showtime in the process LOL

Casual fans believe the better fights are on HBO and watch more often when HBO airs fights. that's all that matters.
if HBO is the network for boxing, why do NBC and FOX do 3-4x as many viewers for boxing?

Those are actually great numbers for a subscribed network. Not so much for Showtime, though. As others have stated, this is why boxing cards shouldn't do head to head shows. It damages ratings that would have been positive for both networks. *I'd like to thank Al Haymon*

SHowtime used to have Floyd and Canelo- #1 and #3 biggest draws in the sport at the time. Now they have neither. Added to that Haymon and the promoters that work with him do not promote fights as well as they could.

They are mainstream and advertise better to attract casual fans. I was really just comparing HBO and SHO, not bringing in networks or ESPN.
