Yes, the trend is definitely there. A lot of it has to do with keeping the "0" like that makes a fighter more marketable, but it really doesn't. If Oscar kept his "0" beyond Trinidad, he still would have lost to Mosley, unless he refused to fight him. But he did fight him and win, lose or draw, that is much easier to respect and he fought two very close fights with a prime Hall of Fame fighter and of course, Oscar fought everybody in his generation. Mayweather will keep his "0". However, it is all for nothing. Mayweather and the others hurt their own legacies by doing this. My guess is though, that the money and not the legacy, is what matters most to him and some of these others. Either way, in the long run, trends are like a lot of things. They come and go very quickly. The class acts are always more respected in time by all and their legacies are better because they didn't cherry pick.
