  • The occupation in Oregon is a great example of White Privilege

The Hammonds were tried and convicted by a jury of their peers.
The judge in the case ignored mandatory minimum laws and sentenced them to less time than they were supposed to serve.
The sentence was appealed and they were re-sentenced to the proper sentencing guidelines.

No matter how you feel about the way the case was handled there is a process that must be followed. For some reason these militia members don't believe they or the people they support should be held to the same standards as DaQauan from Detroit who's sentenced to mandatory minimums for an ounce of weed. The judge who originally sentenced them doesn't believe that either.

The Hammonds were represented by the best lawyer in Harney County. They were convicted by a jury of their peers. Fellow ranchers and family members of ranchers. Daquan from Detroit gets an overworked public defender and a jury full of white people whose family fled Detroit back in the 1960's.

The occupiers have used guns to take over federal property. One of them left a suicide video claiming he's willing to die. Another has said if a government law enforcement official comes to arrest him and points a gun at him he'll shoot. The leader of the pack, Ammond Bundy, said God told him to do this. He's on a mission from God. These people are jahadist.

Their original reason for occupying this land was because they want to give the land back to the people and open it up for logging and farming. The Burns Paiute tribe held a press conference yesterday and explained the land was taken from their tribe in the 1800's. They want the militia to leave. They have been working with the government to conserve the land and their ancient burial sites on the land. When Bundy was asked about this tribe he had no idea who they were or what they'd said. But he wants to open up this land to farming and logging which destroys the Paiute tribe's history.

Bundy has said from day one that if the people of Harney County wants them to leave they'll go. At a townhall meeting yesterday they overwhelming agreed they want them out. Now Bundy is saying he won't leave until the Hammonds are out of jail. He's gathering new evidence of their innocence. He thinks this alleged evidence wasn't presented in their trial? He thinks he knows more than the high priced lawyer the Hammonds hired? He thinks they shouldn't have to go thru the appeals process like every other American. He wants to use the threat of force against the government to get these people freed.

The other militias in the area and around the country are upset with Bundy because he double crossed them. Before the rally Bundy brought up the idea to occupy this federal building and they told him no. When the rally was over he decided to do it anyway. That's why you'll notice other militia and the oathkeepers condemning his actions. His mormon church has come out condemning his actions. Ted Cruz has come out condemning his actions. Nobody is supporting him. He does have some unlikely support from President Obama. The President also wants to abolish the mandatory minimums and has been working towards it while Republicans, the party these guys support, have been trying to block him.

These guys have been holding press conferences. Fortifying the compound. Receiving care packages. Given an opportunity to leave on numerous occasions. Plenty of restraint has been shown in order to end this peacefully. They have refused every offer because of their white privilege.

I know a little bit about the case. Basically the government wants their land and has been illegally harassing them for years to get it.

Anyway, these guys occupying a building is what the left does all the time without any consequences. Hypocrisy much?

its technically their land and they are in the 100% correct.

this is just a perfect example of the government fearing the people. As it should be. Cuz the people should not fear their own government.

how do you feel about Obama bypassing the congress cuz as he says, "I have a phone & a pen" as he tries to force unconstitutional laws?

That is an excellent post, you are correct on many different levels.

White privilege is a myth, doe.

Absolutely agreed. The way this is being handled is like a long stroll on the beach compared to how many non-whites are treated for much less serious things.

So you're saying that the law shouldn't treat suspects differently based on their past records? Got it.
