  • Why do people think Cortez helped Floyd against Hatton?

It was Hatton who was clinching excessively. Clinching and holding excessively is illegal in boxing, dont see why people are mad

true. But I was thinking about Hatton holding lots and remember it is illegal to do so. If anything, the ref helped Hatton since he didnt DQ his a$$

Who cares? Hatton is now a fat drugged b!tch and that match was ages ago. There is no point on arguing because nothing will change.

Cortez is notorious for not allowing inside fighting, khan vs maidana is one of many examples of that. Hatton is an inside fighter so they die hard hatton fans believe he didn't have a chance with cortez, hence the bitching.

Where they are wrong of course is believing hatton would have had a chance with any other ref. It wouldn't matter if the ref was steve smoger, kenny bayless or hulk holgan, he could never beat floyd.

Floyd out muscled and out fought Hatton on the inside, and then absolutely massacred him at range..

Hatton was a fighter who's biggest strength was mauling his opponents, something Cortez refused to let happen.

Not saying he would have won otherwise, but Hatton's best strategy was not really allowed.
