Its really simple. The best have to fight the best consistently. The reason UFC is so popular is because every fight is competitive, top guys have to fight top guys they dont get to pick and choose and milk records. Porter vs Thurman did good ratings because it was the best fighting the best.
Fighters can't be stars anymore once they start losing, don't you get that?
Thats bs & boxing thinking. Thats not how things work in MMA. Hell Nate Diaz & his 10 or 11 losses ass was just on Conan O'Brien. He's just becoming a star. L's in MMA aren't the same as L's in Boxing. In MMA fights are much more competitive so L's are forgivable. In Boxing where guys are kidgloved for several years vs low level loser caliber fighters a L is devastating because of the inferior caliber of the guy he lost to.
That's why the UFC model sucks massively and long-term is a disaster.
Thats the most ******ed thing I've heard someone say about the UFC I think.
that fight did not have a ton of hype in the media
Not all across the media, but Holm was on a few different shows promoting her next fight and talking about getting the title back and hopefully fighting Ronda again. Fox Sports 1 also replayed the UFC 193 PPV (where Holm upset Rousey in the main event) for three straight days leading up to the fight with Valentina that Saturday.
