      Took me way too long...I've given the units of measurement as mm as none were given...
      Do you have a formula you used to calculate the area of the circle sections?

        Aquarium website has everything needed to solve it...and if you're lazy can use the calculator provided on that webpage...looks like you might be using it wrong.

          Its a rectangle. It asks you to calculate that its a circle because it gives you the diameter the circle would be (4.195).

          The rectangle in the middle is 2.54 x 3.55.

          This has had me stumped for 2 days. No one i know can answer it. i will upload my previous working that was wrong because i used the wrong triangle 1st time round

                Yes its right at the bottom of the diagram. the distance between the 2 rods? im assuming thats why the dotted lines on the top picture are shown and why that measurement is given

                    The calculater just uses all the equations on the main page.

                    Work out the Radius and angle Theta job done.



                    r = (L.L + 4.X.X)/(8.X) and then,

                    theta = 2arcsin(X/2r)

                    Area(circle segment) = r.r.(theta - sin(theta))/2


                    W = 2.54
                    L = 3.55
                    X = 0.8275

                      I dont see the connection between the top and bottom drawing. If that is indeed the case, there is a bit of issue on the problem. Dimensions should be reflected where it is relevant. Unless that bottom drawing is somehow connected to the first ( like a zoom in perhaps ).
