  • Mares and Figueroa – where are they?

    Neither have fought since last year, and probably aren't going to this year. What the hell, Al?

    Mares is pretty talented and it's a shame to see him shelved after the Santa loss. Guy could make a nice career for himself if he kept at it.

      Mares was going to fight Cuellar but it was postponed I believe. Mares failed an eye test or something.

        he didnt get medically cleared for his eye in NY.

        they should have just moved the fight else where, where they will clear him. Hyamon a amatuer, bob arum would have kept that fight on no matter what.

          And, lol, you're right about getting him cleared. If Margs is still getting cleared with a fking marble in his socket, Mares shouldn't be having this problem.

            So that's Mares' reason laid out. What's Figueroa's excuse, other than getting fat and not being able to make his natural weight class for years?

                Nice read. That's both questions answered now. :thumb1:

                Still hope they bounce back in 2017, though. Both entertaining fighters, and good match-ups to be made at whatever weights they choose.
