  • Roger OR Floyd Sr.. 14 Years Each As Trainer But Who Contributed Most To Mayweather?

Mayweather was born in 1977, Floyd Sr trained him since around 1985 to 1996, Roger took over between 1996 - 1998 but Floyd's fundamental style was engrained into him by this point. FMJ went back to Floyd Sr after his father was released from prison between 1998 - 2000, then headed back to Roger again between 2000 to 2012. As of today, the total training time for each guy is approximately 14 years a piece.

Who do you think contributed most to Mayweather's style and his success as a boxer? Floyd Sr or Roger Mayweather?

It was Sr. He built Jr from the ground up. Roger just keeps what's already there polished. Its like comparing a great artist to a great art restorer.

Floyd Sr. because he taught him the sport, and trained him first, and long enough to have a mark on his fundamentals forever.

Floyd Mayweather Sr...he made Floyd the defensive/counter punching master that he is.

Roger may have tweaked his offensive game, but if it wasn't for Sr, Floyd wouldn't be where he's at now. Nobody can duplicate the shoulder roll and the skill set Floyd possesses. And many have tried...see what happened to the latest Floyd wannabe? Lol

Sr.. Have you seen how restored Floyd look in his last two fights?

It's like the fusion of Piccolo and Kami.

Man you've already answered your own question, Floyd senior thought Mayweather his basic fundamentals! Even though I feel junior added his own aspects to his game as he's a vastly superior fighter than either Sr., Roger or Jeff!

Bu you just have to look at Mayweather's best performances and see who had him in the gym at the time? The majority of these were with His father!

True.. But I've heard some people argue that Roger was better because he tried to instill a more offensive approach into Mayweather. I pick Floyd Sr though because of those fundamental skills.

Floyd basically encapsulates both his father's and his uncle's style into his own.

Both should get credit,, roger for the offense, sr for the defense,

but floyd is a much better defender than offensive fighter, so i give the nod to Sr.

His father taught his the game from the time he was in a crib practically, and most importantly he instilled in his son the idea of defense, hit but don't get hit. Roger taught him a lot as well but the Floyd fights noticeably more defensively when his Sr. is in the corner.
