  • Orthodox switching to southpaw, good idea?

    im a right handed fighter,

and im thinking about going southpaw

my coach and sparring mates says my left hand is 'sharp' and my right hand is 'heavy'

would it be better to put the heavier hand as a jab?

because it is the most used punch,

hmm any advice from any orthodox fighters turned southpaw?

    thanks in advance!

        i was just messing around

i dont really see to much of a point in swithing

but if u feel more comfortable that way or ur trainer sees something in ur style that would indicate u would be better as a southpaw than u should go for it

          My advice, Don't.

If your left is sharp and swift, it's where you want your jab, the power, is suppose to come from your cross. keep it the way it is and master that jab if it's really that sharp, it'll be a great weapon to use and follow up with the heavy right.

              I see, thanks man!

makes sense, the jab should be sharp, and the cross should be heavy. thank you for the advice

              will do

I'm a converted southpaw and it's been great so far. You have to be committed tho as it can get a little awkward at 1st. Do a lot of shadow boxing.
