You can't see many things, doesn't mean that they don't exist for example, air, electricity, atoms.

But you can observe their effects, they produce detectable phenomena.

Where the God thing is different is that the claims made for him/her/it are vastly at odds with what is observed, and the sophistication of our observations has had the result of hugely reducing the claims made for gods.

God apparently created everything and has been on a downward trajectory ever since. Let's look at the things attributed to god, in order:

      1. Created the entire universe
      2. Flood a whole planet
      3. Destroy two cities and a tower
      4. Outfox the Egyptians
      5. Slightly help out a group of people to find and conquer the promised land
      6. Alternately punish and reward said people via the proxy of other conquering nations
      7. Give visions to a collection of individual prophets
      8. Send an avatar to earth who performs parlour tricks like walking on water and casting out demons
      9. More visions
      10. Nothing for thousands of years
      11. ???

This is from the Bible. Can you imagine a scientific theory that stated "Well atoms used to do a whole load of shit but now we can't detect them. But if you don't believe in them you're going to hell!"?

You have made some good points as usual squealpiggy, how would you view religion if it also based it's evidence on scientifically proven facts as to blind faith?

No let's instead believe a book written by goat farmers thousands of years ago about talking burning bushes

You believe majority of the theories these but when it challenges your good ole religion, it's now just a theory....there's a reason they're called theories, because scrientists admit they could be wrong, unlike god who is always right, which is why it's ok to murder, rape and massacre

May I ask as to which religion preaches the actions you stated above?

We came from monkeys because visually that makes the most sense, right? Im basing my lifes opinion of the beginning of existance on a theory but, will snidely look down on people when they point out the absolute undeniable fact tht its just a theory. Just another run of the mill, Im a cool athiest look at me thread.
              What to know why?

              Arrogance.

We are such arrogant ****s that we don't consider ourselves animals, no, we're well above that. We're so arrogant that we made a book called the Bible and in it there is only one being greater than us. This being, God, created angels, who in a sense are greater than us in power but are chosen to serve us. Lucifer thought he was superior to humans, which any being with power and intelligence he was supposed to have, is. But he was banished to place that you cannot even imagine, a place of eternal torture and just because of that view.

I mean, how arrogant is that?

We didn't come from monkeys based on visual perception, we're 98% genetically the same. I find that a lot of religious people are ignorant to the discoveries we have made and would probably renounce their beliefs if they were to ever be 'enlightened'.

If religion was based on empiricism it wouldn't be religion.

I'm speaking more on scientific discoveries which are being discovered now but it's mentioning are also present in religious scripture dating probably 1000-2000 years ago.
