I think the whole James Bond is ****, but the entire POINT is that he's a colonial throwback. That's kind of the point of the character. Imagine starting a film about a slave trader, and he's played by Denzil Washington.

Most of those movies re-write history to degrade the British.

It wasn't always that way. In 1930s and 1940s movies, the British were usually portrayed in a fair and generally positive way. Compare the 1939 Four Feathers to the 2002 version.

It's more of an American thing, because Americans don't really understand their route to independence and have constructed a fantasy about it being a fight against oppression. Therefore whenever you want an intelligent bad guy, you make him a brit.

It's just the HYPOCRISY of blacks. They want to claim everythng, and if a White person wears their hair in braids, or dreads.. Or if they move into a "black neighborhood," and build a trader joe's, they are "culturally appropriatig," and "gentrifying."
