hated No Country for Old Men

Loved it. One of the few movies I like that a lot of people I know hated.

The Coens are brilliant screenwriters and directors.

They sometimes don't choose the best source material, I didn't enjoy The Big Lebowski and Intolerable Cruelty.

However I was on the edge of my seat for No Country For Old Men and I enjoyed Fargo.

Their best genre is thriller, sometimes with a dark comedic element like in Fargo. I would like to see a few more of those kind of movies from them.

True, they need to stick with suspense / thrillers with dark comedic undertones. Have you seen Blood Simple?
