Couple things...
First off I love Joe, he was a real fighter who was not afraid to mix it up which you really cant say for other greats like Jones or Hopkins. The problem with Joe was that after he beat Eubank in 97 he talked for a decade about coming to the states and talking on the best (IE-Jones)...every year was the same Calzaghe says hes coming to the US and each year instead of coming to make the very best fights he was involved in the Podwill fight or the Ashira fight or a Staire rematch...it got old.
He finished strong with big wins but it could have been sweeter as he spent the best years of his career somewhat guarded.
As for the Hopkins fights-it was close no doubt with Bernard jumping out to a solid lead on the cards however he completely gassed Bernard giving Bernard no choice but to fake multiple low blows to receive a rest and probably less punishment as the fight entered the final two rounds.

tbh those who are slagging off joe are mostly just haters, you could pick rjj resume apart and do the same add to the fact he openly admitted not taking risks and fighting the best and using steriods it makes joe's career look not so bad !

Calzaghe was very good but not great. Hopkins and Roy both have MUCH better resumes than Calzaghe's.

Calzaghe will always get hate, more so from the Hopkins and Jones fans.
But the history books dont lie, He has wins over both of them and that is a FACT. " but they wasn't in their prime" waaaaaah waaaaaah, somebody call a waaaaaaaaaaaaamberlance.
