Here's a simple test to find out if your current virus program is doing what it's suppose to do. This is known as an EICAR test. Open the Notepad application or reduce your browser window, and right click on your desktop. On the menu that pops up, go down to where it says "New", this should prompt a sub-menu. On the sub-menu, go down to "Text Document", click on it. This will create a notepad icon on your desktop, click on it.

Now highlight and copy this code: X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* . Now, paste it to your Text Document. Once you do so, go to "File" on the top bar, and scroll down to "Save As". Give it whatever title you want, but make sure it ends in .exe. For example, stankho.exe. Upon saving it, your Anti-Virus should immediately catch it, and the alarm should go off.

This isn't a legit virus and is perfectly safe.
