Pbc isn't a tv network... If Adonis has no obligation to showtime then people here are blindly defending him. Hbo is setting everything up. Why SHOULD they split a small ppv with showtime? They're providing the date, the venue, all the logistics really and guaranteeing his money. Showtime isn't trying to make this fight. HBO is. Kovalev shouldnt sign a contract with HBO because it would impede negotiations with a guy who already backed out and did the same exact thing? a boxer wants to fight on hbo? Gtfo...that's unheard of. It's no pro fighters dream lol

We all know it's not hitting 300k ppv but thats an optomistic yet realistic expectation. It's probably more of a 190k type fight and Adonis is still being offered a guarantee of 2mil at least and a 50-50 split.

Why does showtime have to be involved 50-50 when HES ALREADY BEING OFFERED 50-50 DIRECTLY!?! It's like ATT offering you a job and you tell them you want to be paid through comcast. Better pay and sense be damned.

This isn't a Mayweather-Pacquiao where there's a few hundred mil to split between a lot of people. Stevenson might want the fight and he's probably in the same spot Pacquiao was before. doesn't make his own decisions . This is like Arum telling Floyd no because he wants to build a stadium despite Floyd having a venue, date, etc. it's ******ed.

I don't know the entire details on Adonis' status as a SHO fighter but it sounds like he has no obligation whatsoever himself. Maybe his management does or something but that's not Kov's team or HBO's problem.

Stevenson knew in 2014 what he knows now; a fight against Kovalev would essentially mark the end of his championship run & perhaps his career. He was pushing 38 then and is pushing 40 now. Kovalev is a younger, superior fighter, with big power. Knowing this, Adonis demanded big money from HBO to fight Fonfara, without any guarantee to fight Sergey later. HBO balked, Stevenson went with Haymon and Showtime. Back then, the two fighters may have had equal notoriety, with Stevenson perhaps having a slight edge. Now, Kovalev is the clear bigger star, but neither is yet big enough for HBO and Showtime to work together on a PPV featuring them as the main event. Kovalev is an HBO fighter, while Stevenson is not, so Adonis can fight on HBO. However, he will only get the deal sweetened so much, as he is not a big enough star, nor has HBO forgotten how he jumped ship & screwed the network in 2014.

Also sounds like team Kovalev was a little shook considering they're bringing up Stevenson's people coming in the ring with him
Good one man. Do you honestly believe that comment you made? I sure hope not!

Well put! Kovalev wants to unify, no doubt about that. Stevenson knows he messed up, missed out on some big pay days. Hopkins called his bluff in the ring.

all he has to do is win the ibf purse bid between his fight dominic wade and ggg..

so yall better get ready to contradict yourself again..or stop talk stuff about that man..he has the angels on his dawgon side

If true it all seems fair to me. They are crazy if they think this will do 300K, GGG is twice as popular as both guys put together and he couldn't even do 200K

People need to move on and stop bringing up this ducking topic once and for all. The moment Stevenson signed up with Haymon to duck the fight, that should have been the end of the story. Stevenson simply got scared of what Kovalev might have done to him in the ring. Fear is the issue, not anything else. People need to stop fooling themselves and pretend it isn't. It's as clear as the sound of a duck's quack.

well let me take you back...back when boxing was on network tv for free before hbo...IT DID JUST FREAKING FINE AND HAD WAY MORE FANS! NOW SHUT THE HELL UP TALKIN TO ME YOU LIKELY RACIST BLACK HATER

haymon is giving the top fights free again! i pray that stays the same
Ohhh its not for free....your paying for it because once there in haymons stable they cherry pick and avoid the hardest challenges....that's why Stevenson ran to haymon wasn't it ..most amount for cash for the least amount of risk ....haymon is bad for boxing and his shows are 95 percent of the time is absolute rubbish ......what's next Ashley pheophane vs broner isn't it ?

anyway this fight is not a ppv fight and i doubt it hits 300k buys. This fight should be in canada where kov has fought and stevenson is still known. In amercia this fight flops
Yeah, Ward -Kovalev = PPV, Stevenson - Kovalev= Not so much.
