That's an illness called depression.

When someone is depressed, some of the symptoms are that they start eating a lot and gain a lot of weight. They can't stop it until the depression is gone. Can't exercise, can't stop eating, nothing. It's a bad illness. And yes it actually is an illness. Of course a mental illness but an illness nonetheless.

There are actually medications for that.
