  • Manny and the 40 million

Given that Floyd inked such a (potentially) lucrative deal with show time and Manny's knockout loss to Marquez. Was it a mistake to have not taken the deal?

Is it possible that Manny could possibly make that type of money in a future fight?

When viewing this from a management standpoint. Assuming the 40 mil offer from Floyd was legit. Was it a better career move for Manny to continue his wars with Marquez where he makes the lions share but overall less money, Or take a smaller portion and possibly less than his true value to fight Floyd but for more money than he could make in any other fight?

Also for reference does anyone know how many Fighters have broken 40 mil for a fight?

It was a BS offer because Floyd wanted 100% of the ppv buys. He tried to screw Pac.

I don't know man, I can see the 40 mil offer from both sides. The fan in me says it was a lowball offer, but seeing it from the business side that Mayweather was talking about I can see why he offered him that. From what I heard recently in a Floyd interview he wanted to cut Arum out completely. He said something to the effect of giving Manny the 40 mil while not including Arum cause he didn't want to put money in Arum's pocket. that in turn would mean more money for Pac as he wouldn't be paying his 25% or however much he has to pay to Arum

Well it's not just 40mill, if May would have beaten Pac in a good fight then there would be a second and maybe third fight that would have generated more then 40mill all together due to Pac wanting a rematch.

If Pac would have taken it and beaten Floyd then he would have the upper hand on things and could demand more money the next fight.

I do believe it could have generated more than 100mill each over the course of 2-3 fights. That could have definitely bought Pac the Presidency over in the Philippines..... and gotten May out of financial problems

Each fighter is to blame here, I do believe greed or pride over money made this happen instead of glory or love for boxing. If they had some Ali in them this would have happened years ago...

Floyd never wanted the fight imo. Though both sides are to blame

Both side cause of monetarian reason didn't allow this fight to happen. Too much money and who wants to control this business venture. This fight is never going to happen unless Pac has a spectacular dominant KO of Marquez in a 5th fight

maybe, when he offered that, MP was not making 20 million in his fights...

arum didn't like it one bit people fail to understand the bitterness these two have for each other. ANd it falls on FMW as a fight dodger cause arum has been the one talking all whilst knowing to himself that he isnt gonna put Fmw in the ring with one of his own fighters

the cotto fight didnt happen for that reason although when FMW was at top rank arum wasn't interested in that fight then either.

if cotto was with with TR he would not have been able to fight trout and trout been chasing this fight for a while..

so in essence manny is not smart enough to think for himself he already been conned.

how do you fire your previous advisor at the lip service of arum who says you dont need one so you can make more money only to have you hire michael koncz does that make sense?

overall theres no way manny could have taken that deal while under contract and freddie roach didnt help him one bit..

wtf did he re sign? he could have went off on his own seriously

Manny will never make that kind of money. This is the price you pay for being stupid.

It was absolutely a mistake! From the beginning Floyd said- Take the test, Pac gets 40 million and Floyd gets the rest. Floyd never waivered from this offer and Pac/Arum never accepted these terms. Instead, Pac got KTFO for less than 1/4 of that and Pac will never be offered anything close to 40 million for another fight in his life. IMO, Pac wanted the fight but it was Arum that was the roadblock
