Joe Calzaghe has a decent resume, but there are other fighters with resumes that are better.

joe calzaghe beat 9 world champions
Mayweather has beaten 15 world champions, Roy Jones Jr. and Evander Hayfield each defeated 16 champions, and Oscar De La Hoya has wins against 19 champions. Also, most of the "big name" fighters Calzaghe fought were past their prime.

Some of you are being too critical of Joe.

Sure he could have fought some better prime names in his career and stuck around a bit longer but he has some solid wins and was very skilled in addition to being awkward while having an incredible workrate for a SMW.

Say Hopkins was past prime which was true but Joe beat him in more convincing fashion that anyone had done in about 15years before that, and Hop beating Pavlik just after made that win look much better too.

What fight did you watch??? Calzaghe never beat Hopkins in a convincing fashion. He got a SD victory and many observers still claim Hopkins won that fight. LMAO That fight was just as close as Hopkins fights with Taylor. IMO Taylor did a better job on Hopkins than Joe aswell.

Hopkins beating Kelly Pavlik the fighter after still doesn't change the fact he was past his prime at that point. Lets not forget to mention that Pavlik jumped 2 weightclasses to fight him also.

Although I believe Pavlik is naturally a SMW. Nevertheless, a fighter can still rack up notable victories past his prime.

I thought he clearly won and most polls on here indicate that the majority of posters see it my way.

If ppl want to call anyone past prime lets not act like Joe was this young up and comer and not a 45 fight 36 year old vet himself.

Listen, I give Calzaghe his due, BUT..... Roy Jones faced 19 world champions, Bhop faced 12. Roy was the first middleweight to win the Heavyweight championship since Bob Fitzsimmons in 1896. There is no comparasin whatsoever. Bhop is arguably the greatest middleweight of all time. Joe was a fine champion, but doesnt belong in the same conversation with Roy and Bhop. Sorry.

Calzaghe is better than both Roy and Bhop and wouldve always been a couple years younger, andwouldve always beaten them.
Yeah that's why he never faced them when they were in thier early 30's. Joe was a good slappe...i mean champion, but he's not in the same league as roy and hop.
