Now true boxing fans in Europe will know him for sure, but the "casuals" that watch one fight every 3-6 months on TV have probably never heard of him, let alone the general public.

LOL at the notion that one's profile in a certain country must match their profile in other countries.
As Boente and several European posters have stated, the Klitschkos are very well known in certain European countries, while Floyd isn't; he doesn't fight in those countries or appear in their media regularly, but the Klitschkos do. Conversely, Floyd has a much stronger media presence in the US than the Klitschkos do, and he is very well known there, while the Klitschkos aren't.
This is true even if an American once met people in a bar in Tenerife who knew of Mayweather.Last edited by Levity; 02-21-2013, 06:34 PM.

Also worldwide most interest in last years was in Klitschko - Haye fight I believe not any of Floyd fights. You may be suprise but US is not the center of the world.
Also Europeans by average tend to be very tall people and don't really care about short, light weighted boxers when their women are bigger than Floyd.

I usually stick up for America in all things concerning Joe Calzaghe.
But on this one, way to stick it to America and pwn them by not giving two ****s about competing against their biggest star in Mayweather. They basically completely dismissed America by saying we don't need you. We've got the monopoly on the heavyweight division, the mandatory challengers and all Top 20 contenders must come to us and our turf, we don't need to chase down any American approved opponent or their top network and we still generate top revenue.

A few weeks ago, the World Boxing Association issued an order which granted Wladimir's request to have a voluntary defense. According to the order, Wladimir was granted permission to defend his "super title" prior to facing Povetkin - but their respective camps were given a deadline of February 28 to reach an agreement for their mandatory fight. Additionally, the WBA set down a purse bid date of March 18th for Klitschko-Povetkin, and they set down a purse bid split of 75-25 in Wladimir's favor. [Click Here To Read More[/URL]]
