  • Does anyone think boxers should earn a purse?

There are some fighters who fight the same and win? It seems sometimes guys go in there and are guaranteed millions, younger fighters normally perform well, but older fighters are getting big paydays and are "no shows"... The loser should get a max of 1 million and the winner gets a max of 10 million and tickets and ppv should be half of what they are now.... Other proceeds should pay for training camps and traveling.....who wins with this....

I don't know about all that... But I do think the winner should take the bigger share of the purse... That will definitely make the fights a little more interesting and fighters will take more risk to win!!!

There is a good argument for both sides, for example if Lara did not earn anything last night for a fight he clearly won would be disgusting, it already is disgusting that he didn't get the nod...

Then on the other when you get an event like Haye vs Harrison, promoted on a huge scale in the UK and alot of people buying in the hype and paying the PPV fee only for Harrison to show up and do nothing then yes he did not deserve a purse...

I personally think things should stay how they are, two fighters 3 months of training a hard fought 12 round bout which could go either and someone does not get paid?

No, like in all sports you get paid off your past performances. I think boxing should think a little outside of the box and put in the contract that 5-10%(example) of the split goes to the winner though. Or maybe 2-3% of the purse goes to the guy that scores a kayo. If no kayo happens, donate to boxing gyms and training.
