My dad tells me that in the 60-70s there were hardly any billionaires in the Middle East.. Mostly peasants and export traders was the main occupation.. He used to say they never heard about these countries in news or anything.. With the discovery of oil in the early 80s they went from rags to riches..
And money commanded greed for power which led to quite a few SOBs to grab the power and be dictators..
