  • Joe Cortez Never Again

Just watched the Hopkins-Calzaghe and forgot that Cortez split the fighters up 60 times in the first 3 rds bc of Hopkins one punch/holding/hooking but decides to warn Calzaghe. Cortez is such a horrible referee and think he's totally incompentent.

Please post more Cortez typical door-knob humping attention span screw-ups.

He's fair but firm unless it involves an American fighter.

UK Fans: Joe Cortez is horrible he didn't allow Ricky Hatton to work on the inside against Mayweather!

Yet Hopkins wasn't allowed to work the inside against Calzaghe.

Truth is Cortez simply breaks too quickly, doesn't matter the nationality (he's puerto rican himself ).

Hopkins didn't want to work, he was slowing the pace down.

Never cared for him for the already aforementioned reasons, I wish there were more refs like:

                Mercante SR/JR

                Mills Lane

                Frank Capuccino (spelling?)

                Steve Smoger

                Richard Steele

Joe Cortez is one of the biggest idiots in the history of organized sports. He's a legend.
