I did'nt mean doing away with promoters. Promoters are integral to the sport for the reasons you listed. I'm just saying a more competitive market, like with purse bids, are better for the sport and for the fighters imo. I just think lock down contracts with promoters and networks are bad for the health of the sport. Prevents far too many fights from happening.

I actually agree with you on that. Promotional contracts are a big pain in the a**. Back before promotional contracts existed, MANAGERS actually funded the development of fighters, and PROMOTERS focused solely on doing events, not building talent. But somewhere along the way, managers slacked off, and promoters were left footing the costs for development, and obviously couldnt go forward without some sort of long-term agreements to protect their interests, hence the creation of the promotional contract, and a pox on our sport lol

Stop! Just stop! That's the way business has been done FOREVER! Haymon isn't doing anything that hasn't been done before in business. He got the money from a investment firm. THEY INVEST MONEY INTO OTHER PEOPLE BUSINESS!!! Who's money do you think Trump used when he bankrupted those casinos? Not his! Who's money do you think Facebook, Twitter, and other sites used when they were spending millions more than they took in? Not theirs. Haymon isn't doing anything different than

Suing Haymon for Ali Act violation and simultaneously amending their contract to violate the Ali Act.

Promoters having a right of approval over managers is a violation of the Ali Act. There is supposed to be a strict separation between promoter and manager. Giving the promoter the right to prevent a fighter from signing a manager is illegal.

Guys lets talk about mario the accountant. Are you a fan or a hater?

He has a background in sales management but he went back to school to qualify for the CPA exam. I've seen mario groupies on this forum saying a background in sales can benefit anyone and blah blah blah. That he's the man, that he's revolutionizing the game. What's your take?

The Republican nominee has made a living out of using other people money and bankrupting businesses. Forcing small contractors out of business because they're forced to accept pennies on the dollar in bankruptcy court. But you're amazed that Haymon got investment money to create a business model that he though would be successful?

Oh yea I understand that side of it & the upside of that side of it. I'm just saying there is an upside to having a fight by fight situation that could be more profitable between more big fights that'll enhance your legacy & bank account along with getting you maximum income each time out, win, lose or draw.

The taking a loss thing is one of the risks, but I'm sure there are built in clauses in promoter contracts now based on losing or bringing in less fans & all kinds of things like that so there probably isn't THAT much different on the bad side of things (believe Manny took a pay cut with this Vargas fight from his $18M-$20M/gtd), but sure its likely to be a lil worse if you freelance fight by fight & take a L or have some other thing negative go on then again its going to be a lil better if you freelance fight by fight on the good side.

Amazing how all these 'fans' so concerned about the legality of PBC just glaze right over this.
