    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6419041.stm

Here in this article it proves that dog eating isn't exclusive to Asian countries dated March 6, 2007.

A quote from the article states:

For Mr Nnkwo, however, an Igbo from south-eastern Nigeria, eating dog meat is a question of culture.

"I hear they eat frogs in certain parts of the world. But I tell you, no matter how you cook or dress a frog, I can never eat it.

"But dog is different. So, eating dog meat is a question of culture for me."

Dog meat is also eaten in Plateau and Gombe states in the north and it is becoming quite popular in other parts of the country including Kaduna and Adamawa with Abuja as the newest entrant.

Asked how tasty the meat is, Mr Nnkwo beams and says: "Oh la la! You don't know what you are missing."

The truth is eating dogs isn't just an Asian phenomenon.

    Also,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African...in_West_Africa

"When British rule was first imposed on the Sokoto Caliphate and the surrounding areas in northern Nigeria at the turn of the 20th century, approximately 2 million to 2.5 million people there were enslaved.[4] Slavery in northern Nigeria was finally outlawed in 1936.[5]"

It states right here that many African slaves came from Nigeria which means any African-American or black American with roots to West Africa especially Nigeria needs to understand that their distant relatives do eat dogs too.

    Here is another,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat

I am Korean-American. So, naturally I follow strongly the Western culture in appearance and in internal cultural pull I am Korean/Asian also. I understand fully the culture or the delicacy of eating dogs. My country also practice said culinary food. Only in the U.S. did dogs developed into this untouchable animal that cannot be eaten. Horses also experience tremendous outpouring of support that it is culturally unacceptable to eat their meat in the U.S.

The reason why animals such as dogs, cats, and even horses in the U.S. are not socially accepted meat products to be consumed:

The first nation to experience a boom in television sales was the United States of America. Television has been around since the 1920s and for its long run produced many memorable t.v. programs as well.

Famous t.v. programs that influenced millions of Americans everyday since its inception.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lassie

Lassie was a very popular t.v. program and novel as well. It inspired countless generations of American to own and love their dogs because of their strong sense of loyalty and all around beauty. Also, Lassie type programs became norm as well before and after the Lassie t.v. shows such as:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ace_the_Wonder_Dog
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rin_Tin_Tin

    And yes even Air Bud.

It is no wonder that dogs have developed this unique sense that it is more than just an animal to have. Also, to reinforce another thing domestication of dogs have been around for thousands of years. It means that dogs and humans have been working together for a long time as well. Still, in times of great famine and of hardship (war, poverty, and misery) dogs are still eaten from the past to the present.

    Now, with the cats:

It states that cats have been domesticated for thousands of years even worshiped as deities in different cultures. Influential t.v. shows, stories, books, and stories once again raised millions of Americans into accepting that cat meat is to be socially unacceptable to be consumed. However, cat meat has been consumed for thousands of years as well.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_meat

As you can Asia, Europe, South America, and even in Africa cat meat is consumed, socially acceptable, and culturally part of society.

    Horses:

This doesn't need to be researched with an in-depth analysis. Let us just say that the U.S. went through a phase when gift giving of ponies/horses to their children became the biggest present one could give at the time. Cars weren't popular yet as gifts to young ladies (think "Sweet 16" MTV Show).

Now, a little bit of exploration to why all these animals are socially unacceptable meat products in the U.S.:

    - Disney, Warner Bros., Universal, and Pixar all made countless cartoons from Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Daffy Duck and other famous animal cartoons became household names and American children loves them as young children does. Ever wonder why some girls or boys get emotional when someone eats a rabbit or a duck? A funny story, as a Korean-American I love eating duck cuisine. One day, I was eating in my dorm room a friend of mine from school walked inside my room. She asked what you eating, and I said duck. And she was disgusted and said how can you eat such a food. You know, you should have seen her face all disgusted that it made me laugh.

Anyway, American children and, better yet since we are in the modern age, children globally are growing up watching Disney, Looney Tunes, and other children t.v. shows that humanizes animals to sweet adorable characters. No wonder that an explanation can be made to the increase of people becoming vegetarian. The pull of t.v. programs to the developing mind is very strong and anyone saying different is only fooling themselves. T.V. programs are the miasma of cultures melding into one and then a show is produced and transmitted over and over again for many years. And that continuous play leaves imprints to every growing child in the world.

Ever wonder why everyone who is 40 and under knows the song "I LIKE BIG BUTTS AND I CANNOT LIE" which "BABY GOT BACK" by Sir Mix a Lot? The reason is that the song have been played continuously for the past 20 years now. In my time, The Animaniacs was the popular kids cartoon but 6 years forward Pokemon was the popular kids cartoon. And it goes on.

Now, back to the main point:

Dogs, cats, and horses are all animals no different from cows, pigs, chickens, and ducks. Culture, religion, and humanity dilute the truth about what can be eaten and not be eaten. In Islam, pigs are haram. In Judaism, pigs are non-kosher. In Christianity, pigs are staple food. Do you see what it is? We are the ones that says what we can and can not eat. If you ask me, every animal should be open for food consumption even humans. If a global war occurs you think people would not resort to cannibalism. Think about it, people eat people when the sole reason is mental insanity. What about a global so vicious that eating one another is a must do decision not just an option?

To end this mental masturbation of mine:

I am not ashamed that Asians eat dog meat because it is just an animal similar to pigs, cows, and chickens. THE END!
