It's even more than that. The mentality of fighters in MMA are different than in boxing. McGregor originally took the Nate Diaz fight last March on 10 days notice and had the fight at 15 lbs heavier than his schedule fight. His schedule fight was even 10 lbs heavier than his last fight. He lost and still took the rematch at 170lbs. Fans respect that. Who in boxing with McGregor's fame would be pulling risks like that? It's none of this careful opponent selection in order to give the appearance of a flawless record. The refreshing part of MMA is that losing is much more accepted since there are far more ways to lose in a MMA fight.
At the end of the day this is all just entertainment. Neither MMA or Boxers are up there curing cancer. People just want to watch good compelling fights.
