In practise neither system has ever been successfully implemented on a large scale anywhere in the world, they always end up being top down systems, but socialism and communism are at root bottom-up collectivist solutions.

We're talking about a kid who rated the Communist Manifesto is an influence. The Communist Manifesto details an uprising by the workers to seize control of production thus implementing a bottom-up social order of interdependence and an abolition of top down government.
