The key with boxing is making him fight your fight not the other way around. Are you a power puncher or a guy with fast hands? Are you a puncher or counter puncher? How you fight will determine how to best deal with it. If you don't have your footwork, movement, and timing down then work on that.

Two of the most frustrating things as a fighter are missing excessively and getting countered on those missed shots. To add insult to injury, if you have a good chin, seeing the few good shots he lands do nothing will frustrate him even further. He might just start slugging from then on if he can't keep composed and from there keep your chin down and you have plenty of openings coming but more than likely he's going to ease up and try something else.

Guys who are workhorses have it set in their head that they are going to get in there and work but if you can punish them for doing so or frustrate them into being more cautious then you're all set.

Last thing, don't let yourself become overwhelmed. If you do, then he has set out to do what he wanted.
