R.I.P Wilford Scypion

Former Middleweight contender passed away yesterday at age 55. Scypion earned a shot at Marvin Hagler by upsetting the number one contender Frank Fletcher.

R.I.P. Wilford, he was a favorite on the early espn shows out of the Ice Palace in Totowa N.J. I remember working against him with my old friend Jonny Davenport with Hard Rock Green. Wilford had a few big wins against Ernie Singletary and Teddy Mann that got him some bigger pay days.
I saw him and Frank the "Animal" Fletcher have it out for 12 rounds in Jersey.
Those were fantastic shows back in the late 70s and early 80s and Wilford was involved in buildings espn boxing then. R.I.P Wilford. Ray.

Scypion reminds me of a time when boxing was shown on network television almost weekly. Sorry to hear of his passing.
