sounds like Montiel's still got it. How about a fight with Cristian Mijares, a fight that should have happened years ago?

How can he still have it if he barely beat a journeyman with eleven losses? Montiel hasn't had it since he left the 115 lbs. weightclass. He was pretty fortunate to get that left hook/jab in against Hazegawa to KO him, as he was losing every single round up that point. If you look back at his record, you'll see that that was his only meaningful victory above 115 lbs. At 118 lbs. his power went up with him but at 122 lbs. it did not (not to mention that he never had the best chin, either)!

He still got it?!! barely defeating a mediocre fighter with 12 losses. Not long ago there was an article stating he wants another title run yet he's struggling to defeat opponent like his last one which a prime Montiel would've defeated with ease. He's definitely past his prime.

Montiel is no longer a player in the division. If he had been winning impressively since being starched by Donaire, that would be one thing but he has lost since then and struggled against a guy with 12 losses.
