I was waiting for Forrest Gump to run on a football field, but instead I got a lanky blue thing.

movie snob checking in.
i enjoyed avatar. it was entertaining. it's not at all some terrific piece of filmmaking. it's more of a gimmick, but it's a good gimmick. it manages to entertain thoroughly without having much that's substantial.

gents...
do you think "actors" from the future will be reduced being mere voice actors?
CGI IMO, would be so powerful that filmmakers would be able to replicate their nuances and tendencies with greater control than ever before...
thoughts?

Seen Tom Hardy in Lawless? If you appreciate acting and expressions, movement etc... then CGI just would not have the same effect.
