He only lost once; and that was to all-time-top 5'er Harry Greb. True, Greb was a natural middle and Tunney was a natural 175'r; but he was the prototype for a Billy Conn/Muhammad Ali mobile boxer puncher.

And, his upset over the seemingly invincible Jack Dempsey really showcased his skill set, especially considering the wide margins of victory.

Its so hard to make one of these lists, just because their is so many great fighters that you could make a case for especially 8-20..
Mine in a kinda sorta order at least in the beginning

          1. SRR
          2. Ali
          3. Armstrong
          4. Louis
          5. bennny leonard
          6. SRL
          7. langford
          8. greb
          9. Pep
          10. pernell
          11. duran
          12. walker
          13. ike williams
          14. chavez
          15. jack johnson

Cant really decide on 16-20,,,, very hard to nail it down,,,,, but i think the guys i mentioned are locks for me at least,,, once you get past them,, it gets really hard to decide amongst guys,,

and i probably left someone obvious off the list,,, sorry this was just off the top of my head,,,

            Preface:

I normally only do top 10's, mainly because I'm lazy. But given that I have extra time on my hands today, I'll list the top 20, with one caveat: I'll only rank my top 10.

            The Elite
            1. Robinson
            2. Louis
            3. Ali
            4. Duran
            5. Armstrong
            6. Greb
            7. Gans
            8. Pep
            9. Leonard, B.
            10. Holmes
            The Rest*
            • Chavez
            • Dempsey
            • Johnson
            • Ketchel
            • Langford
            • Marciano
            • Ross
            • Tunney
            • Tyson

How can you leave out Ezzard Charles? Chavez and Johnson are not better than Charles.

I have never done this so in no real order and I might end up over or under a few and only listing fighters I have seen footage of
                  Ali
                  SRR
                  Duran
                  louis
                  pep
                  SRL
                  Sweet Pea
                  Hagler
                  charles
                  moore
most of the greats I have not seen footage of and I am reluctant to put most modern fighters on the list because I would be shunned for putting them on and leaving these greats off I have never seen but SRL Hagler and Pernell Whitaker I would have on here regardless of how many other greats I had seen they belong and thus they are there
                  Sal Sanchez
                  Azumah Nelson
                  Vincente Saldivar
                  Hilario Zapata
                  JCC
                  berto Roman
                  Finito Lopez
are among the ones with my limited knowledge of the greats would make the list and would possibly be offset by more deserving fighters had I seen them fight still only seventeen and in no order I guess I did not add much but there you go

I'm not a fan of making list like these, but i'll try to drop one. I'll just order a few of them, otherwise i'll be here all day,

                      1 .Sugar Ray Robinson
                      2. Joe Louis
                      3. Muhammad Ali
                      4. Sam Langford
that's as far as i can go on numbers

                      Harry Greb
                      Ezzard Charles
                      Roberto Duran
                      Archie Moore
                      Sugar Ray Leonard
                      Julio Cesar Chavez
                      Henry Armstrong
                      Carlos Monzon
                      Michael Spinks
                      Pernell Whitaker
                      Benny Leonard
                      George Foreman
                      Marvin Hagler
                      Roy Jones Jr.
                      Willie Pep
                      Mickey Walker
