Not at all. Wlad had the reputation of being chinny, and Haye was regarded as one of the hardest punchers in the sport, many picked Haye to knock him spark out, especially when you consider Haye's explosive style.

Haye had achieved everything at CW and had nowhere left to go in that division. The Wlad fight was by the far the most lucrative fight out there, and it put his name on the map.

I hate Haye, but it was a good decision to fight Wlad, not a bad one.

Why? It was the fight everyone wanted to see.

He is a heavyweight and a damn good one. By your logic Marciano 185, Dempsey 188, Louis 198 and Jack Johnson 192 were all too small to be heavyweight champions of the world and yet they were. You might say today's heavyweights are bigger but those champs beat the 220 to 260 pound giants of their day.

You can't name any cruiserweight champion who was much good who didn't try to beat the heavyweights so why would Haye be any different? A boxer who is lean at 200 pounds after drying out and making weight is a big man and really a heavyweight.

Haye was the second best heavy behind the brothers, had looked pretty comfortable at the weight and won the WBA belt, one of boxings most prestigious.

The fight made perfect sense. Problems arose when Haye lost and started making excuses, silly ones too.

He got paid a lot and did exactly what I would have done.. Ran his azz off. So no he is far from stupid. He's a lot richer because of that decision...and alive.
