      I don't like the idea of intervening in nature. Sure you could possibly prevent a natural disaster in one location, but in doing so, you could create problems elsewhere.

      Humans have to learn to live alongside nature, not circumvent it. Maybe building one of the worlds largest cities in a region regularly afflicted with hurricanes wasn't such a good idea. Especially when a few feet of water can cripple an entire seaboard.

      We need to create technology that works with nature. Flooded regularly? Build homes with foundations that rise with the water level. Etc.
