  • Antonio Tarver has failed another PED test

It wasn't made public when it was just the "A" sample testing positive, but now the "B" sample has also been found to be positive.

NEW YORK — Former light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver tested positive for a banned substance prior to his fight with Steve Cunningham last August, multiple sources familiar with the positive test told SI.com. It’s the second failed drug test in the last three years for Tarver, who tested positive for an anabolic steroid in 2012 before his fight with Lateef Kayode. That positive test earned Tarver a $2,500 fine and a one-year suspension from the California State Athletic Commission.

Tarver, 46, is one of the bigger names associated with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions series. Advanced drug testing was used for Tarver-Cunningham, per sources. When Tarver’s ‘A’ sample tested positive, Tarver requested the ‘B’ sample be tested. That sample also tested positive, per a source.

Tarver’s positive test was for synthetic testosterone, per two sources familiar with the results.

      He'll probably have to.

He's an excellent commentator, but now he'll likely lose his job with Spike too.

Really? I think they'll keep him as a commentator. Surely, his eligibility has to be revoked to fight ever again though.

What a ****in' dope. Just as he was building back his reputation doing the commenting gig and fighting once in awhile, he does this. It's sheer stupidity and he should be fired from his Spike job.

That was for the first time.

It will be more severe this time (second offense).

I think he lost his position at showtime due to the first positive test, after this one he's likely never to be heard commentating again. then there's the suspension from boxing. True bellend.
