I doubt the WBC is going to hang a Mexican out to dry. They're going to prolong the Lara fight for Canelo as much as they can.

This could work in the favor for Golden Boy, Canelo, and Lara. If Canelo beats Trout, Canelo can just vacate and he'll have a good excuse without looking like a duck because he'll get to fight Mayweather next. Golden Boy will also be happy because Lara will no longer will be Canelo's mandatory. This will also give Golden Boy a way to satisfy Lara by giving him a title shot after Canelo vacates.

I hope this is true mainly because it will stick it to vanes for not wanting to step up and fight lara again. I dont really have a preference between Trout or Lara but i feel Trout has got a lot more momentum right now

the WBC can make up endless eliminators, like anybody cares. they'll let Canelo do whatever he wants.

if keeping Canelo champ is in the best interest of boxing (ie Sulaiman's bank account) then Canelo can fight bums and smaller guys forever and he'll keep his title.

we all know Canelo is fake because if he wasn't he would have fought at least one real contender.

Floyd Mayweather has had the WBC welterweight title for almost 2 years without defending it, why not Canelo. at least Mayweather is a real boxer and a HOFer but still.

And let's not forget he was going to fight Kirkland and that fight also fell through. Canelo wants to fight these guys it's not his fault these fights aren't happening.
